Val Saint Lambert – Trio of Antique Crystal Glasses 'Cathédrale (Taille Ecaille et Etoile)' (2x 21.5 cm & 1x 19 cm)
Description:
For the connoisseur and collector of historic Belgian crystal: a beautiful and rare lot of three antique crystal glasses from the prestigious crystal house Val Saint Lambert. This concerns the opulent and very luxurious top model 'Cathédrale' (officially catalogued as Taille Ecaille et Etoile). The trio consists of two different, consecutive sizes from the same service:
2x Large glasses (Height: 21.5 cm) – The original large water glass (grand verre à eau).
1x Smaller glass (Height: 19 cm) – The original wine glass (verre à vin).
The glasses unmistakably belong together; they have exactly the same iconic design and all three feature the characteristic, handcrafted star base. The design dates from the early Art Deco period (circa 1910–1930) and displays fabulous detailing: Gothic pointed arch patterns combined with deep cross-cuts and radiant stars on the bowl. The hexagonal cut baluster stem features characteristic facet notches.
Given the early production date, the glasses do not bear an etched mark (at the time, only paper stickers were used), but authenticity is fully guaranteed based on the iconic model features and the exact factory specifications of Val Saint Lambert. Specifications:
