A 90-year-old piece of Belgian design history!
Beautiful authentic butter dish (also usable as advertised at the time as a cheese dome).
It was made by the famous Belgian glass factory Val Saint Lambert (marked).
This is the iconic 'Severina' model from the famous Luxval collection and was designed around 1935 by Charles Graffart and René Delvenne.
Style: Art Deco/Modernist
Material: Clear, sturdy pressed glass
Design: Clean geometric lines with the characteristic streamlined handle on the dome.
It is in very beautiful vintage condition. There is one small chip on the inner rim of the underplate (see photo). This is not sharp and virtually invisible when the dome is placed on the dish.
