A striking vase lamp, upcycled from an original Walter Brecht Keramik handled vase – model 830 from the "CARDO – The New Line" series. This collection was produced in several sizes and is considered one of the most distinctive pieces of West German Pottery from the 1970s.
The vase boasts a clean, almost architectural form with an intense color effect: a deep dark blue at the top contrasts with a vibrant, rich red at the base. The characteristic handle and the angular, slightly conical base underscore the vase's Mid-Century Modernist style.
This collector's item is in excellent vintage condition and has been carefully converted into a vase lamp: no drilling of the ceramic, a reversible, handcrafted plug-in solution, weighted for stability, and high-quality brass plate and sockets.
The ceramic remains completely intact – preserving the vase's collector's value.
The lamp features an E27 socket (up to 120 volts) made of black Bakelite with a transparent cable that is routed directly into the socket from the back. It's ideal as a striking accent lamp on a sideboard, console, or bedside table.
The generously sized drum shade picks up the color of the vase and interprets it in a vibrant, graphic pattern, creating a captivating visual dynamic. The light is softly filtered, producing a warm and atmospheric ambiance.
Dimensions: Lamp 51 cm high, vase 25 cm high, 14 cm wide, 7 cm deep, shade diameter 25 cm.
This lamp is a handcrafted, one-of-a-kind piece – a successful fusion of iconic West German ceramics and contemporary interior design. A second, larger lamp will also be available here in a few days.
