Cordless table lamp crafted from a vintage Bay Keramik ceramic vase from the 1960s. A rare West German pottery vase with an embossed base and collector's value. The design and decoration are by Bodo Mans, one of the most influential designers of West German pottery in the 1960s and 70s.
The vase features the designer's typical relief decoration: geometric ornaments and floral elements are sculpted into the surface, forming a rhythmic pattern around the body. The vase is unglazed, allowing the texture to be showcased to its best advantage. Its clean lines place the vase stylistically within the Mid-Century Modern movement, specifically Brutalism.
Height of the vase without the socket: 18 cm
Total height of the lamp: approx. 41 cm
Careful conversion to a lamp: The vase was carefully converted into a lamp using a securely anchored yet removable plug-in solution, weighted for stability. The vase opening is sealed with a high-quality brass cap. The vase retains its full collector value. E27 socket with brass-look finish.
Technology – wireless & flexible: The lamp is powered by a rechargeable LED bulb, which can be charged via a USB-C cable. It provides up to 12 hours of light. The bulb can be purchased separately for approximately €12. The LED bulb is suitable for outdoor use. It can be dimmed using the included remote control – several light colors are available.
Thanks to its wireless operation, the lamp is particularly well-suited for locations without a direct power outlet, such as balconies, patios, or gardens.
The lampshade: Diameter: 23 cm, Height: 23 cm
Material: Japanese cotton fabric with a modern black and white floral pattern featuring graphic flower shapes. The high-contrast design brings a contemporary touch to the mid-century ceramic while creating a pleasant, soft light.
The price reflects the vase's collector value.
