Beautiful wall lamp with a long cord, made of a styrene sheet (base) onto which a layer of fibers is applied, usually handmade paper, then stretched taut.
This advertisement applies to 1 lamp; preference is for the sale of the set (price per piece). Please contact us first regarding this.
The entire piece is attached to a metal frame; the lamp is elegantly decorated all around with (presumably) woven/glued rattan 'threads'. The lamp has a red/brown color (camel). We have not been able to detect any signs of wear, possibly very light here and there.
Additional info:
The paper often used for this type of lamp is called washi/sizo paper, which comes from mulberry tree bark, or from gampi trees or the mitsumata shrub. Possibly mixed with banana leaf fibers.
In Japanese/Eastern circles, the term Unryu paper is also used. This is generally also made of mulberry bark or rice paper. In our experience, the latter is not what was used for this.
A well-known artist who manufactures these types of lamps is Brenda Bolte from America. Whether the lamps are her work is not (yet) known to us.
