Some pieces of furniture disappear into an interior.
This armchair, however, draws attention.
For this project, I completely transformed an existing armchair using an exceptionally long-pile upholstery fabric. The sleek construction gives way to a surprisingly soft silhouette that balances somewhere between a design object, a comfortable lounge chair, and a sculpture.
As with all my work, this is not a restoration, but a gentle intervention: an existing chair acquires a completely new character, without denying its history.
Despite its distinctive appearance, this is a full-fledged armchair. It is comfortable to sit in and feels just as at home in a living room as in a hotel, gallery, reception area, or creative office. It is an object that arouses curiosity and almost always sparks a conversation.
This armchair is handmade in my studio in Maastricht and is a one-of-a-kind piece. There is only one. Specifications
