Each vase bearing model number 7825 features a hand-incised and hand-painted decoration, ensuring that no two pieces are identical. The vase exemplifies the fusion of craftsmanship and studio ceramics characteristic of the 1970s. Its bold, tactile design and distinctive form reflect an era when artists transformed everyday objects into expressive, unique creations. About the Artist: Dietmar Liedke Born in Karlsruhe in 1936, Dietmar Liedke is a German ceramicist and designer renowned for his contributions to mid-20th-century ceramic art. Early Training: Between 1950 and 1953, Liedke trained as a ceramic painter at the Karlsruher Majolika Manufaktur, where he also completed his journeyman's examination. Education: From 1958 to 1961, he studied at the Kunst- und Werkschule Pforzheim under Professors Seidel and Rothe. Professional Career: Starting in 1961, Liedke returned to the Majolika Manufaktur as a designer, focusing primarily on architectural ceramics and both individual and series pieces. Over his career, he was responsible for more than 90 series numbers, contributing significantly to the factory's output. Artistic Philosophy: Liedke viewed the Majolika Manufaktur not merely as a workplace but as a central part of his life and artistic identity. He expressed pride in being part of its long-standing tradition of collaboration with renowned artists and craftsmen. Public Artworks: In addition to his work at the Majolika Manufaktur, Liedke created large-scale ceramic installations, such as a wall design measuring 300 cm by 1200 cm for the Saale-Klinik in Bad Kissingen, installed in 1985. Liedke's works are held in high esteem and are part of collections such as the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo, which houses a ceramic figure he created around 1965. A Collector's Gem This vase is more than a decorative object; it's a piece of art history. Its unique design and impeccable craftsmanship make it a valuable addition to any collection of mid-century ceramics or studio pottery. Whether displayed as a standalone piece or as part of a curated interior, it embodies the innovative spirit of 1970s German design.
