Dining table designed by Umberto Mascagni of Bologna in the 1950s. The main body structure is in solid European wood, covered in brown veined vinyl and anodized aluminum. The legs are also covered in black vinyl. Excellent vintage condition. This whimsical table is an interesting example of mid-century Italian design. In 1952 Umberto Mascagni created a new way of producing furniture using new materials such as PVC and anodized aluminum. This was provocative considering the market at the time. His furniture was sold at Harrod's, London, 1952-1955.
