For sale is an absolute rarity of Italian design history: a sculptural Space Age lounge chair designed by Sergio Mazza (Artemide) in the 1960s. Possibly a one-off piece for a trade fair in the 1960s. This example is a true collector's item and differs significantly from classic plastic models: the chair is based on the original, rigid monobloc shell (fiberglass), but has been completely upholstered in high-quality, cognac-colored genuine leather in an exceptionally elegant special edition. Special features, details & construction: Rigid fiberglass inner shell with an organically curved silhouette that seamlessly transitions into the four legs. Craftsmanship: No zippers! The leather has been masterfully hand-fitted and finished with a distinctive, high-precision double saddler's stitch along the edges. In the non-visible areas, i.e., under the armrests and on the inside of the legs, the stitching is applied. Condition: Very good vintage condition. The thick, full-grain leather has developed a beautiful, distinctive patina over the decades, giving the chair an unmistakable vintage charm. Please examine the photos carefully. There are no cracks in the fiberglass. The frame and the original floor glides are perfectly stable. Color: Warm cognac brown/tan leather. An exclusive key piece for lovers of Italian mid-century and space-age design, virtually impossible to find anywhere else on the market. Dimensions: Backrest height 67cm, armrest height 51cm, seat height 34cm, depth at legs 77cm, seat depth 56cm, width at the back of legs 83cm, seat width (inside) 45cm. All dimensions are approximate. Viewing and collection are preferred. International shipping is possible upon request. As this is a private sale, all warranties and returns are excluded.
