Product description
One of the symbols of European Mid - Century design. Exceptional craftsmanship. Curved beech wood (stripped and clear varnished). Excellent condition.
Each claustra consists of two superimposed frames with shelving units, two vertical supports and four "feet" mounted on glued wooden pegs.
Frame height (excluding connectors and feet): 102 cm x 2
Height of vertical connectors (between each frame): 8 cm
Connector height (floor & ceiling): 14 cm x 2
= Total height (including feet & connectors): 240 cm
Width of both frames: 55 cm
Depth of both frames: 8 cm
Depth of shelves inside frames: 15 cm
These claustras can be fixed and used in many different ways.
Their previous owner had used them as bookcases in their full height (fixed by the floor and ceiling) and unstuck from the walls so that the widest books could fit inside.
For reasons of stability (weight of the books), both were fixed to the ceiling from the back using small brackets. They can be fixed in the same way to the corner of a wall, and can also be used as dividers simply by placing a few objects on their shelves (or not).
You don't need a ceiling height of 240 cm to integrate them into your interior, as the connectors can be omitted if the ceiling height is less than 240 cm.
A few traces of use here and there, but nothing major
