With its generously bellied shape and two side handles, this antique pot belongs to the great French tradition of glazed earthenware intended for kitchen use. Before metal and then industrial materials became commonplace in homes, these terracotta vessels were daily companions for food preparation and preservation. This particular piece is especially appealing due to its warm-toned glaze. The golden honey color that adorns its belly gradually intensifies, becoming deep brown below the rim, creating a rich and luminous contrast. The interior is also entirely glazed in a beautiful amber hue. The craftsmanship remains traditional. The rounded body rests on a slightly tapered base, while the two handles, directly joined to the body, lend it that immediately recognizable silhouette of antique culinary pottery. The underside bears the number 999 impressed into the clay. Its characteristics are indicative of French regional glazed earthenware productions from the first half of the 20th century, circa , though no precise manufacturer can be identified. With a height of approximately 12 cm and an opening diameter of about 15 to 16 cm, this pot offers a generous volume while maintaining particularly harmonious proportions.
