The 'Tupa' armchair was designed by Reino Ruokolainen during his tenure as the Artistic Director for Haimi. Haimi was renowned for its modern, high-quality furniture and was one of Finland's leading furniture companies at the time. Throughout his career at Haimi, Ruokolainen primarily crafted wooden furniture in the Finnish mid-century style.
For this particular armchair, he selected an oak frame, which has developed a pleasing patina and slight wear over the years. The cushions have been reupholstered in white bouclé fabric. Beneath the chair, the manufacturer's mark can be found.
