This original, comfortable chair was designed by the Dutch interior and furniture designer, Bas van Pelt (1900–1945). It was manufactured by E.M.S. Overschie. This particular chair has a cantilevered tubular metal frame, giving it a sleek appearance. However, the seat and backrest have a warm appearance thanks to the coarsely woven red sisal fabric, which is combined with black lacquered wooden armrests to create an exciting contrast. The design shows traits of Bauhaus aesthetics.
The wicker has been replaced in the past. The chair is in very good condition overall, with normal signs of wear and tear.
