An exceptionally beautiful collector's plate from the "Zhar-Ptitsa" (The Firebird) series, made by the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburgāestablished in 1744 at the behest of Empress Elizabeth II. This is the first plate in the series, painted by the talented Palekh artist Alexander Klykov.
šØ The plate depicts a dramatic scene from the famous Russian fairy tale of the Firebird: a young tsarevich grasps the enchanting firebird soaring high above a magical forest, surrounded by golden trees and fairytale-like Russian palaces. The Palekh styleāoriginating in the Russian art village of the same nameāis characterized by a deep black background, bright primary colors, and fine gold details, entirely in the tradition of Russian icon painting.
ā±ļø This plate is crafted with rare pigments and natural gold, based on a Palekh original designed especially for this collection. The edition is strictly limited to 195 pieces. Each plate is individually numbered. Bradex number: 60-155-1.1.
