Surrealist wrought-iron sculptures by artist Jean-Luc Bertel. Tree VII is part of his new series Trees (2026). The inspiration comes from the shapes of trees, with a nod to the monumental wrought-iron sculptures of Chillida, for which he holds great admiration. The minimalist, robust, and unique figures were created between hammer, fire, and anvil. Forging is a form of modeling. The materials and technique the artist employs are fully integrated into the result. All sculptures possess a high tactile appeal, yet are layered in such a way that the viewer almost immediately begins to search for the message and the relationship they have with them. The sculpture has been given a coating that provides a beautiful sheen and a black-brown color, accentuating the hammer marks. Unique signed work from 2026.
