The four Iris chairs, crafted from light beechwood, are in good condition with minor signs of wear on the lower legs. The wood has a warm tone and harmonizes beautifully with the black faux leather seats. The seat covers are in very good condition. The chairs' distinctive form, dominated by the narrow, elongated, one-piece backrest and the transverse front legs, is reminiscent of minimalist, almost brutalist, Asian designs.
The chairs were designed by Belgian designer Bob van den Berghe in the early 1980s for the Danish manufacturer Tranekaer. Founded in 1974, Tranekaer developed into an innovative manufacturer through collaborations with renowned designers such as van den Berghe, Ostervig, and Wegner, placing the highest value on exceptional craftsmanship.
