For sale are two exquisite PJ 149 colonial armchairs, designed by the legendary Danish designer Ole Wanscher and produced by P. Jeppesen Mobelfabrik A/S.
These original pieces from 1975 are rare collector's items in very good vintage condition and embody the essence of Scandinavian mid-century design.

A Masterpiece of Design History
The PJ 149 colonial armchair is considered one of Ole Wanscher's most important designs and is his most famous creation. Inspired by British and French colonial furniture of the 18th and 19th centuries, Wanscher achieved the perfect balance between classic elegance and minimalist aesthetics with this chair.
A committed minimalist, Wanscher valued sleekness and refinement. The chair's slim dimensions belie its remarkable stability, which it owes to its meticulously constructed bracing.
Trademark: The refined, gently curved armrests, which taper elegantly downwards, are a signature Wanscher detail.
Construction: The front and rear legs are crafted from round timber. The slightly outward-curving rear legs enhance stability and refine the overall appearance.
Originality: Unlike reissues, these originals bear the manufacturer's mark (metal plaques with "Danish Furniture Makers Control" and "Made in Denmark PJ Design Ole Wanscher").

The chairs are in excellent, original vintage condition. The rosewood frame displays the beautiful grain of this rare wood, while the deep black leather upholstery underscores the timeless appeal. Signs of age and use are present and contribute to the authentic vintage character.
