This clever, artistic decorative bowl by Thomas Buxo combines many functions in its design. At first glance, the unusual elements appear purely artistic in nature. However, a keen eye will notice that the ridges along the rim serve as both a grip and a resting place for cigarettes. The two bowls directly resemble the skewer holders on a Spanish olive tray... but they could also be used as candlesticks. The design is both visually interesting and brilliantly executed for practical use.
French artist Thomas Buxo graduated from the Rietveld Academy in 1996. He is known for his graphic design and ceramics and has his own studio in Amsterdam.
