A rare decorative ceramic vessel by Theodor Keerl, signed on the base. Keerl lived from 1862 to 1939 and is particularly known for his art ceramics and experimental glazes.
The piece is stylistically related to Art Nouveau and early German art ceramics and, based on its form and glaze, likely dates from around 1900–1920, probably around 1910.
The ceramic has a low, bulbous shape with a wide opening and a dark brown-reddish, glossy glaze with beautiful color gradient effects in, for example, blue and yellow. This gives the object a very vibrant and high-quality appearance.
It is ideally suited as a small vase, cachepot, or simply as a collector's item and decorative piece. A beautiful piece for lovers of Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, early studio ceramics, decorative arts, and distinctive interior design.
This piece complements classic Art Nouveau interiors beautifully, but also makes a striking accent in modern, minimalist, wabi-sabi, Japandi, or vintage settings.
