"The Strong Blue Dahlia"
This artwork, The Strong Blue Dahlia, is entirely hand-cut from linoleum. The work is built up from multiple layers of color, which were subsequently partially sanded down to create depth, texture, and rich layering.
The dahlia symbolizes strength, inner growth, and vibrancy. In this work, the powerful blue flower represents resilience and energy—a quiet yet present force that continues to bloom regardless of the circumstances. The intense blue tones give the work an almost luminous appearance and enhance the sense of tranquility, depth, and vitality.
Through the interplay of color, relief, and transparency, a lively and organic surface is created with a subtly weathered, authentic character. The soft background texture contrasts with the dynamic form of the flower, making the dahlia stand out even more strongly as a symbol of life and strength.
