The Kiss (Der Kuss, The Kiss, El Beso) is a painting by the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, created between 1908 and 1909. This oil on canvas, covered in gold leaf, is part of Klimt's Golden Phase and is arguably his most famous work. It depicts a man kissing a woman on the cheek. The couple is embracing, and the woman is kneeling. Her closed eyes express ecstasy.
