It is also a design piece, timeless, and adds value to any interior. The sculpture is hand-signed. Marie-Jeanne van de Velde (MJ), born October 15, 1957, is a trained contemporary Flemish artist from Ronse, Belgium. Website: https://www.mjmad.be, Arts and Crafts by MJ. instagram/bymjmad. Born with an artistic eye and a passion for painting, sculpting, jewelry, and ceramics, she creates under the name MJ. The work can be abstract or figurative. The material can take on an aesthetic or symbolic meaning within the context of the entire piece, retaining something of its original identity. Her career began as a professional painter in 1988, and she has since become a gifted ceramicist who is always experimenting with new materials and techniques. Today, her sculptures are made of mosaic. Her style is strongly influenced by the Cobra movement, Miro, Haring, Picasso, and Mondrian. It often presents a new interpretation of these. Her works are also exhibited nationally and internationally, and in her own gallery in Ronse, Belgium. Each piece is unique and usually signed "MJ" on the inside. The works are shipped insured and carefully packaged.
