Oil on canvas. The large scene in the lower section features a group of women taking turns assisting Saint Anne, still in her postpartum bed, under the gaze of Joachim, while a nurse holds the newborn Mary in her arms, preparing to wash her. In the upper section, the heavens open and God the Father, seated on the clouds amidst a jubilation of angels, together with the Holy Spirit, illuminate and bless the newborn child. The construction model for the work derives from a painting of the same subject by Luca Giordano, created in 1674, located in the church of Santa Maria della Salute in Venice, although here there are some differences. Compared to Giordano's work, the entire left section is missing, featuring two other figures and a window at the top that opens onto a vast landscape; there are fewer angels and the lower section of the floor is missing. The painting has been restored and relined in the past. It is presented in a late 19th-early 20th-century frame.
