This wall-mounted sideboard is an original component of a modular wall unit by Fritz Schröder K.G., Gehlenbeck Furniture Workshops (West). The dating from 1961 onwards is based on the model number 12818-61, which is preserved on another original component of the same wall unit. The sideboard itself clearly belongs to this system in terms of both construction and design.
The clearly structured body combines two doors with a three-part drawer unit. The doors are fitted with high-quality original hardware that allows them to open fully – a characteristic quality feature of this series. The square wooden handles are flush with the fronts and underscore the understated, functional design language of the early 1960s.
The teak veneer displays a calm, even grain in a warm tone. The piece has been carefully restored, with careful attention paid to preserving its substance, proportions, and original details. For secure and modern installation, the sideboard is equipped with new, high-quality wall brackets that ensure stable mounting and emphasize the floating effect of the piece.
A high-quality mid-century modular furniture system that impresses both as a standalone piece and as part of a modular wall unit – an authentic example of German design and manufacturing culture from the early 1960s.
