SPHERICAL TABLE LAMP IN MURANO GLASS | ALFREDO BARBINI, 1970s
This stunning table lamp, designed by Alfredo Barbini in the 1970s, features a hand-blown Murano glass sphere resting on a chromed steel base. The lamp’s design creates a beautiful chiaroscuro effect, with light and shadow playing across the milky white glass. A portion of the original maker’s sticker, including the Murano attribution mark, is still visible—confirming its authenticity.
Born in 1912 in Murano, Venice, Alfredo Barbini was one of the most important glass artists of the 20th century. Coming from a long line of glassblowers, his work is renowned for its impeccable craftsmanship and elegant design. This 25 cm diameter lamp embodies his signature style—pure, organic shapes paired with exceptional glass quality. The intentional air bubbles trapped within the glass are a characteristic feature, adding to its unique handmade appeal.
