This rare highboard was designed by Svend Langkilde and produced by Langkilde Møbler in Denmark in the 1950-60s. The piece is made of high quality teak veneer and exemplifies Scandinavian (Danish) Mid - Century modern furniture with clean lines and rich materials.
Svend Langkilde was known for his use of exotic hardwoods such as rosewood and afrormosia teak and his combination of Asian-inspired motifs and rigorous craftsmanship in modernist designs.
Langkilde Møbler maintained high standards of furniture making and regularly produced furniture in limited editions.
Another new and innovative way to make handles were Svend Langkilde's integrated handles in some of his cabinets, including this one. They were beautifully rounded and carved into the doors and drawers of the cabinets.
The cabinet is completely restored and back in very good condition!
