Modern glass sculpture designed by master Sven Palmqvist (1906-1984)

Glass artist Sven Robert Palmqvist (sometimes spelled Palmquist) was born in 1906 in Lenhovda, Sweden, and is best known for his collaboration with the Orrefors glass factory, for which Palmqvist created the Fuga series of bowls. Palmqvist's illustrious career with Orrefors spanned more than four decades, from 1928 until his retirement in 1971. The versatile designer also created glass sculptures that can be admired in churches, at the entrance to the STV in Stockholm, and in several offices in Dubai. Palmqvist's designs can be found in museums and galleries, and he is remembered as an important contributor to 20th-century Scandinavian glass design.
