Product description
Nice set of the iconic Cab 412 & 413 dining chairs in a rare Tobacco leather. Extremely comfortable and beautiful armchairs! Designed by Mario Bellini for Cassina.
The Cab chairs were designed by Mario Bellini in 1979. Conceptually new was the way Bellini uses leather to cover the whole chair in one monochrome layer. The red to brown leather is stitched at the sides in a precise manner and spans dynamically over the whole chair. A nice detail is how the back elegantly runs over into the armrests, developing in a delicate curved shape at both ends.
The Cab chair was the first-ever chair to feature a free-standing leather structure, inspired by how our skin fits over our skeleton. The pieces are sewn together only when their outer edges have been trimmed to ensure a perfect fit. Once assembled, the cover is attached to the chair’s steel skeleton and held in place by means of a zipper fastening, as in a bespoke tailored garment. Today this model adapts and expands to meet contemporary needs.
Condition:
These chairs are in a very good, well-preserved condition, without damages or repairs. They exhibit the normal, age-appropriate wear and patina one would expect from furniture of this era, giving the leather an elegant, time-worn appearance that complements the chairs' vintage style.
