A rare and exquisitely hand-painted polychrome wooden and stucco religious statuette from the 1920s-1930s, depicting Our Lady of Mount Carmel holding the Infant Jesus. Made in Catalonia, produced by the Olot workshops, the stamp on the back is illegible but still easily recognizable. The period and attribution are consistent with the aesthetics and the stucco molding technique. The glass/sulfide eyes are very expressive.
It measures a good size: 33cm high, 13-14cm wide, and 10cm deep. Very good overall condition, no visible flaws, selective paint retouching, and a hand-restored left hand holding the cord: two fingers were recreated before being reattached to the wrist and then repainted. The work is clean and very discreet. The rest is in superb condition. There are a few rare and very discreet imperfections due to its age, such as yellowing of the colors on the unretouched areas, halos and glories on the back of the missing heads, filled holes, and a small, very discreet repair on the back of the crown. A fine, highly decorative piece. Approximately 500 g.
