An elegant stoneware vase signed Méténier, made in the first half of the 20th century, probably between 1920 and 1940, in the family workshop in Gannat, Allier.
The piece is distinguished by its harmonious silhouette with double handles, inspired by antique forms revisited with a modernist spirit. The generous body is enlivened by a subtly ribbed vertical decoration, highlighted by remarkable enamel work.
The contrast between the powder pink base and the deep black drips creates a flamed effect typical of French art stoneware of this period. Each piece is unique, and the nuances and variations in the material contribute fully to its character.
Hand-signed under the base.
This vase perfectly illustrates the expertise of the Méténier workshops, renowned for their research into enamels and their forms that are both simple and expressive.
Ideal as a centerpiece, alone or alongside other pieces, in a contemporary, wabi-sabi, or 1930s-inspired interior.
Height: 22 cm
Width: 19 cm
Good overall condition. Note a small chip on the base, discreet and inconspicuous, which does not affect the stability or the aesthetics of the piece.
