This German stoneware stein features on its main side an embossed view of Neuschwanstein Castle, framed by an oval medallion with baroque scrolls and an intense cobalt blue background. The inscription « Neuschwanstein » appears at the bottom of the medallion. The reverse side features a second embossed alpine landscape, with a red-roofed chalet, fir trees, and snow-capped mountains. A braided frieze runs along the neck, while a wreath of edelweiss adorned with small yellow flowers encircles the base. The handle, sculpted in the shape of a gnarled tree branch, bears the mold number 1598 engraved into the material. The « Made in Germany » mark is present under the base. Neuschwanstein Castle, commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria and completed after his death in 1886, is one of Europe's most photographed and depicted monuments. Souvenirs dedicated to it, especially stoneware steins from the 1950s-1970s, are now sought after by collectors of Germanica and Bavarian souvenirs. Height approximately 13 cm. Germany, 1950s-1970s.
