This approximately 200-year-old comtoise with 4 bells and 3 weights beats every quarter hour on three bells and the full hour on 4 bells and is equipped with a verge movement.
Of course, this antique comtoise also has the well-known repete beat. When electric light did not exist, it gave the owner the opportunity at night to be able to count the number of beats once again. It is equipped with a folding pendulum and features an 8-day verge movement, which means that the clock's weights must be lifted once a week with the supplied crank key. Also special about this clock are the winding holes. Two of them are located at the bottom of the clock, as can be seen in the photos that are part of the description.
When the comtoise was made in France around 1840, it was in a pine cabinet. This case has deteriorated. Around 1960, this clock came to the Netherlands and they provided it with a wooden seat in Hindeloopen green, which was finished with a red piping.
The original side doors were metal and completely closed. Recently the clock was completely disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. It was then decided by the restorer to no longer hide the magnificent movement behind the closed metal doors and it was decided to place windows in the side doors, revealing the particularly ingenious technique of this clock and making it stand out in both classic and modern interiors.
This is a clock nearly 200 years old. The pictures, are part of the description and show what you are buying. Viewing in advance is possible.
