Product description
A Space Age coffee table from the 1970s, characterised by a low, enveloping structure in which curved lines, shaped openings and continuous surfaces create a strongly sculptural volume. The design combines the white-painted structure with the warm tone of the wood and the transparency of glass, reflecting the futuristic language that emerged in design between the late 1960s and early 1970s. Made of wood, the coffee table features a partially white-painted structure that develops around the perimeter with semicircular ends and large side openings. The smoked glass top is set within the structure and supported by exposed wooden elements, while the lower shelf echoes the same elongated, rounded shape of the base. The alternation of solid and open sections visually lightens the volume and highlights the articulated construction of the piece. The combination of wood, smoked glass and white surfaces emphasises the table's Space Age character, while the continuity of its curves gives it an almost sculptural appearance. A piece representative of the formal experimentation of the 1970s, combining function and decorative presence through an effective interplay of forms, materials and transparency.
