Sculptural Space Age floor lamp produced by Kamenický Šenov in Czechoslovakia during the 1970s. The lamp features a large spherical clear bubble glass shade positioned on a slender brass-plated metal column with a circular domed base. Its restrained geometric construction contrasts beautifully with the highly textured character of the glass. The distinctive globe contains numerous small air bubbles and organic irregularities characteristic of this type of decorative Czechoslovak glass production. When illuminated, these details refract the light and create a spectacular atmospheric pattern across the surrounding walls, giving the lamp a completely different visual presence after dark. The combination of an oversized glass sphere, polished brass and elongated proportions gives the piece a strong Space Age character while remaining elegant and minimal. It is an excellent statement lamp for Mid-Century Modern, Postmodern, Space Age or contemporary interiors. Kamenický Šenov has a long tradition of Bohemian glass and lighting production, and this piece is a particularly decorative example of Czechoslovak lighting from the 1970s. The brass-plated metal has been carefully repolished while preserving appropriate traces of age. The lamp has been professionally rewired with new electrical components and is ready for use.
