Product description
The name of the piece of furniture - mute servant or valet - goes back to domestic servants who took the master's clothes until the 19th century. The human valet helped with changing clothes and tidied up shirts and trousers. Later, the mute servant made of wood or metal took over his function by simply throwing clothes over the furniture. This allowed clothes to be stored without creasing or wrinkling if you wanted to wear them again the next day.
The mute servant is in very good condition. However, vintage items may show some slight signs of use such as unobtrusive scratches and other signs of time.
