This exceptional coffee table/living room table is a unique Indian piece – a so-called bayot table, often referred to as a tea table in India. It features a heavy glass top (approximately 1 cm thick). The table base is made of numerous original Indian wooden blocks (block print blocks), traditionally used for fabric printing in India, which are incorporated here as decorative inlays. It was handcrafted from solid wood. The combination of the hand-carved structure, the clear glass top, and the brass accents creates a special blend of rustic craftsmanship and modern aesthetics. We purchased the table around the year 2000 from Fischer's Warehouse, which buys and sells unique, high-quality oriental furniture from Asian countries. Anyone familiar with Fischer's knows what I'm talking about. Their furniture reflects the traditions and unique cultures of these countries and their exceptional craftsmanship.
Transport: Due to its weight, collection only. The glass top can be removed for transport. It takes two people to carry it. The glass plate is intentionally not fully in place in the photo to show that it's removable. I also wanted to photograph the wooden stamps without a reflection.
