A small witness to a bygone era, this silver-plated candlestick belongs to those modest yet elegant objects that naturally accompanied daily life. Its shape is particularly pleasing, with a wide circular basin surrounded by a fine fluted rim and a central candle socket accentuated by several moldings. A simple, almost classic architecture, designed as much to hold the candle as to catch the few drops of wax escaping the flame. One can readily imagine it placed on the edge of a writing desk, on a small table next to an armchair, or accompanying the last pages of a book before nightfall. Its size allows it to be easily integrated into a contemporary decor, alone or combined with other antique candlesticks of different heights.
