This small decorative jar evokes something of the washstands and dressing tables of yesteryear, when even the most modest everyday objects were still designed to contribute to a room's decor. Made of white porcelain, it features an elegant urn-like silhouette. A circular foot elevates a generously fluted body, which is extended by a straight neck that accommodates its lid. The lid echoes the porcelain's design and culminates in a small finial delicately highlighted with gold. A delightful bouquet decoration runs around the neck. Roses, small blue flowers, and foliage compose a polychrome frieze in soft tones, punctuated by gilded lines that emphasize the piece's structure without ever making it feel heavy. The gilded KPM Kerafina monogram appears under the base, the mark of the Kerafina factory in Marktredwitz, Bavaria. Not to be confused with the famous KPM of Berlin. Kerafina belongs to that significant Bavarian porcelain tradition which experienced a notable boom in post-war Germany, under the names Kerafina, KPM Bavaria, or Royal Porzellan. This small decorative jar attests to the taste of that era for forms inspired by grand European porcelains. Rococo silhouettes, floral bouquets, and gilding recall the precious objects of the 18th and 19th centuries, reinterpreted with the expertise of mid-20th century Bavarian manufacturers. With its approximately 9 cm in height, it possesses that almost miniature dimension which gives it great charm. On an antique dressing table, among a few perfume bottles, in a display cabinet, or simply on a console table, it brings that precious and romantic touch that antique objects know how to create without ever overdoing it.
