Small handcrafted bronze Oba face mask, Bamoun, Cameroon, Africa. Vintage, mid-20th century or slightly earlier. Intended for decoration or use in commemorative ceremonies and tributes. The object is adorned with a suspension ring molded directly into the headdress. The back is irregular, and the natural patina reveals slight traces of oxidation, indicative of its handcrafted nature. The face, depicted in a traditional style, displays a serene expression, with large, slightly bulging eyes and a subtly smiling mouth. It also features a fan-shaped, striated beard, a symbol of dignity. The mask wears a headdress, or crown, studded with spikes. A very charming little object that will delight lovers of African art.
16 cm high, 10 cm wide, and 4 to 5 cm thick depending on the curve. In very good condition, with natural wear and patina. There are small holes, particularly in the headdress, due to the manufacturing technique, which are original and attest to its authenticity. Approximately 700g.*
