We present this splendid small bronze sculpture depicting the bust of a young woman dating back to the early 20th century. The sculpture is signed GEMITO on the back, likely by Vincenzo Gemito (Naples, July 16, 1852 – Naples, March 1, 1929), an Italian sculptor, designer, and goldsmith.
This refined bust depicts a young woman with her hair tied back and a generous neckline; the artist likely intended to depict "The Nurse," a typical subject in a veristic style. On the back, there is a no longer legible stamp, likely from the foundry.
