I am offering for sale two original watercolors by Vyacheslav Savielev, known as Slava (1944-2013). A major artist on the international scene, Slava Savielev's work extended far beyond Paris, from his exhibitions in Switzerland (Petit Palais, Geneva) to his recognition in the American market.
An emblematic figure of Russian nonconformist art, Slava Savielev enjoys a well-established reputation. His work is listed in the Bénézit dictionary and is featured in prestigious collections, from the Museum of Contemporary Russian Art in Paris to the Kandinsky Library at the Centre Pompidou.
His regular appearance at international auctions—from Paris to the United States—testifies to the sustained interest of collectors in his work. His death brought an end to his growing success.
These watercolors come directly from the artist's studio. These works were personally handed to me by Slava Savielev himself during our regular meetings in the 17th arrondissement of Paris (from 1988 through the 1990s). This close relationship allowed me to build a personal collection, including the monumental piece "Trojan Horse" (1989), a nod to the fall of the Berlin Wall, a historical artifact of his work. (See the last photos for your enjoyment.)
