Rare "Gemma" table lamp – Skipper production (1980s)
An icon of postmodern Italian lighting, the "Gemma" table lamp produced by Skipper in the 1980s represents an extraordinary expression of geometric minimalism and avant-garde materials. This light sculpture, with its strong graphic and retro-futuristic character, stands out for its ethereal design that skillfully plays with weight and transparency.
The lamp is structured around a solid and monumental lenticular circular base (in white granite or technical stone) that ensures perfect stability. Two slender, sinuous white-painted metal stems rise upwards from it, serving as a compass mount, culminating at the top with the articulated light source. The diffuser is a small, elegant, adjustable globe made of emerald green plexiglass. It houses the light source (originally a low-voltage halogen bulb), projecting a direct, dramatic beam of light toward the base while simultaneously diffusing a vibrant chromatic halo into the surrounding space.
