This striking sideboard is a design by the Italian designer Umberto Mascagni, produced in the 1950s. The piece stands out due to its unique use of materials and the characteristic decorative elements typical of Mascagni's progressive vision of post-war design.
The credenza is crafted with a structure upholstered in faux leather in a soft beige shade, finished with contrasting black edges and aluminum profiles. The four doors feature glass panels behind which are detailed, figurative illustrations of female figures on stairs, giving the piece a theatrical character. Four drawers with brass-colored handles are located centrally. The entire piece rests on tapered black legs that emphasize the typical Mid-Century Modern aesthetic.
The sideboard is in good vintage condition, with the original finish and character of the furniture preserved. The construction is sturdy, and the drawers and doors function well. This piece of furniture is a distinct statement piece that fits perfectly in an eclectic, vintage, or Mid-Century Modern interior; and offers plenty of storage space.
