A handcrafted and hand-painted ceramic shelf from the 19th Century, its creation is attributed to Ceramiche Minghetti. Ø 35 cm, Ø 22 cm, h 43 cm.
Ceramiche Minghetti is a renowned Italian artistic ceramics manufacturer, with a history dating back to the 19th century. The manufactory was founded by Angelo Minghetti in 1850 in Bologna, an artist and sculptor whose works ranged from figures and busts, often painted, to everyday objects. His works were exhibited in important national exhibitions, such as those in Turin in 1880 and Rome in 1883. After Angelo Minghetti's death, the business passed to his sons Gennaro and Arturo. In 1908, Aurelio, Gennaro's son, renamed the company "Ceramiche Artistiche Angelo Minghetti & Figli" (Angelo Minghetti & Sons Artistic Ceramics). The Minghetti manufactory is known for producing high-quality artistic ceramics, including sacred art objects like holy water fonts (Acquasantiere) and small Madonna statues (Madonnine), as well as everyday objects such as vases and pitchers. Many families, especially those from Bologna, jealously preserve their Minghetti majolica pieces.
