Set of two large-format signs made of solid wood with designs inspired by classic W.D. & H.O. Wills posters, featuring transportation themes from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
I don't have much more information about these panels except that they originally formed a set of four, and I was only able to acquire two because the others were already reserved. They were part of a private collection belonging to an English couple living in Málaga, and the information provided is the same as what was given to me.
Concept and Manufacture (Upcycled Industrial Art)
* These decorative panels with a rustic design were conceived using the upcycling concept of wood reclaimed from packaging or transport. The knots, imperfections, and rough texture of the original wood have been intentionally preserved to enhance its character.
* Date and Back Structure: c. 1970-1980
The fronts evoke the advertising aesthetic of the early 20th century. However, to consolidate the loose horizontal planks and transform them into two rigid and secure structures suitable for hanging, the back panel was hand-assembled in the second half of the 20th century (vintage period) using three vertical reinforcing strips secured with Phillips head screws.

Both panels include an integrated decorative frame painted as part of the design, with the graphics applied directly onto the wood's porosity.
1. Main Line Flake Poster: Displays a spectacular illustration of a classic steam locomotive. This advertisement is inspired by the famous tobacco of the British firm W.D. & H.O. Wills.
* Dimensions: Height 105 cm | Width 70 cm | Thickness 4.5 cm (including back strips).
2. Paris-London Poster: Displays an illustration of a steamship with text in French, evoking the historic maritime-railway route of the Chemin de Fer du Nord company.
* Measurements: Height 107 cm | Width 71 cm | Thickness 4.5 cm (including back slats).
Condition:
Good overall condition for pieces of this type and size. They exhibit patina, marks, and wear consistent with age, which contribute to the authentic vintage and industrial character sought after in this style. They retain their original appearance.
