This rare pair of lounge chairs belongs to the Compagnia delle Filippine collection, designed by Antonio Citterio in 1993 for B&B Italia. Citterio, known for his mastery of ergonomics and sculptural forms, created this series for the domestic market, combining an expressive, organic silhouette with luxurious, hand-woven materials. The result is a chair that is both technically refined and visually striking.
Each chair features a beech wood frame wrapped entirely in woven leather straps, a signature element of the collection that adds warmth, tactile qualities, and a distinctive handcrafted character. The dramatically flowing seat profile flows seamlessly into the back legs, creating an elegant, continuous line. Sculpted solid wood armrests complement the curves of the structure, adding both comfort and refinement. The front legs are finished with aluminum caps, a subtle nod to Citterio's precision in material selection.
These pieces are structurally strong and visually striking. The woven leather exhibits natural aging and patina, consistent with use, giving the furniture authenticity and character. Light wear is visible on some frequently touched surfaces, as shown in the photos, but this does not detract from its integrity or usability.
A rare opportunity to acquire a matching pair of one of Antonio Citterio's most distinctive and collectible designs from the early 1990s—furniture that elegantly demonstrates his versatility, extending beyond the office chairs for which he is best known.
