A refined set of seven Cos chairs, designed by Josep Lluscà for Cassina in 1994.
The Cos chair is designed for both domestic interiors and high-end office environments, combining warmth, solidity, and a carefully structured design. The gently curved backrest and fluidly shaped seat create a sculptural silhouette, while the ergonomic shape subtly adapts to the body.
This set features dark stained beech wood frames and seat and backrest elements upholstered in black leather. The finish gives the chairs a refined black-on-black appearance, while the visible wood grain in the frame adds warmth and depth to the otherwise monochrome composition.
According to the designer's documentation, the Cos chair is produced with a wooden base of cherry or beech wood, while the seat and backrest are made of high-density polyurethane and upholstered using an advanced seamless in-mold technique. Precise details and high-quality finish were central to the design and underscored Cassina's production standards of that era.
The Cos chair received an honorable mention in the Furniture category in ID Magazine's annual design review in New York in 1995.
A robust and elegant set of seven Italian design chairs, equally suitable for a sophisticated dining room, boardroom, gallery-style space, or contemporary architectural setting.
In good vintage condition with minor visible signs of age and use. The black leather shows superficial scratches, light stains, and a natural patina. The dark stained beech wood frames show light wear.
