Beautiful set of four vintage dining chairs, designed by Louis van Teeffelen and produced by Wébé in the 1960s. In the original brochure, this model is referred to as ‘Milan’, part of a series with a matching dining table. Based on minor differences in fastening and finish, this specific version was likely produced on commission for the sales organization Topform.
This set comes from the estate of the first owners from Nijmegen. An extra nice detail: the original owners purchased these chairs as a complete set at the time, together with the matching dining table.
The chairs have been fully restored in our workshop, preserving their character and authenticity. Originally, they were upholstered in black faux leather, but unfortunately, this could not be salvaged. Therefore, both the seats and the backrests have been fitted with new foam and reupholstered with a rich green bouclé fabric called Odense. The seating comfort is now better than ever, partly thanks to the generous, wide backrest.
The teak frames have been thoroughly cleaned and refinished, bringing out the warm, deep color beautifully once again. Some wood joints have been re-glued, making the frames stable and sturdy once again. You can feel the quality in the construction and the weight; what you see here is truly pure Dutch craftsmanship.
Despite the dark tones of the wood and fabric, the overall impression is surprisingly airy. The slender legs and the brass decorative balls in the back give the chairs an elegant, chic look. Typical of Teeffelen: everything is right, everything is well thought out. With clear influences from Danish aesthetics, but we lovingly claim this as Dutch design!
