A lovely set of four vintage dining chairs with a Danish aesthetic, produced around the 1960s. The designer and maker are unfortunately unknown, but you can definitely see and feel the quality.
We picked up these chairs in Purmerend, and to be honest, they were in rather poor condition. The frames were dried out and full of damage. The foam and the original black faux leather upholstery were also well past their prime. A big job, but exactly the kind of project we get excited about!
Once they arrived at our workshop, we completely and carefully restored them. And that was more than just a quick wash! The frames were completely stripped and refinished, naturally preserving the characteristic patina. As a result, the teak wood has regained a beautiful, warm, and deep hue. The kind of color that only comes with age and that new teak simply can't match.
The seats have new, firm foam and high-quality leather upholstery. Combined with the wide backrest, this provides a significant upgrade in seating comfort. The black leather also creates a beautiful contrast with the warm wood, giving the chairs an elegant and luxurious look. They're perfectly ready for long dinners or cozy evenings at the table with (non-alcoholic) drinks.
And then there are the frames, because you simply can't ignore them. The backrests are equipped with a handle. How unique is that? In all our years, we've never encountered one before. It gives the chairs a playful and distinctive character that perfectly complements the mid-century look. A unique design and undoubtedly a beautiful addition to the dining table.
