A beautiful set of four vintage dining chairs by Topform, produced in the 1960s. Because Louis van Teeffelen reportedly also designed for Topform at the time, this design could easily be his, although there's no proof.
We picked up this set of chairs in Purmerend, from the estate of the original owners. They were being replaced to make way for a new interior... and honestly: who would part with such gems? Well, lucky us, I guess.
The chairs were fully restored in our workshop. No fewer than three (!) layers of old upholstery were removed, with each layer revealing what lay beneath. The foam was replaced, and we chose a beautiful beige/sand-colored wool fabric. Soft in appearance and a very charming contrast with the dark frames.
And those frames... wow. You rarely encounter such refined shapes and lines. It's secretly typical of Teeffelen: organic, elegant, and meticulously thought-out. Everything is in perfect proportion. Thanks to the restoration, the teak has regained its warm, characterful glow. Beautiful!
A feast for the eyes and a pleasure to sit on. The wide backrest and new foam provide wonderful comfort. A beautiful detail is the decorative brass balls, which give the backrest the illusion of floating. Top-notch Dutch design with a touch of Danish elegance.
